This year, Paige and I are honored to lead Team Healing Hearts in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) 2025 Charlotte Student Visionaries of the Year Campaign. This is a seven-week fundraising competition led by high school students to raise money for LLS and its mission to find cures for blood cancers and assist patients and families as they battle leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma, or myeloma.

Cancer has deeply touched our family in many ways, with our Mom having survived colon cancer, Grandmother having faced breast cancer, and our Grandad plus many others, skin cancer. Each diagnosis has reminded us of the importance of continued advancements in cancer research and treatment. What many people don’t realize is that breakthroughs in treatments for blood cancers often lead to innovations that benefit other types of cancer as well. That’s why we are so passionate about supporting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission. This cause is incredibly close to our hearts, and we are committed to help fund the research that brings hope to countless families like ours.

As a global leader in the fight against blood cancer, LLS:

• Funds cutting-edge research leading to breakthroughs in immunotherapy, genomics and personalized medicine that are improving and saving the lives of patients
• Provides free education and support for blood cancer patients and families, including personalized, one-on-one support, assistance with identifying and enrolling in clinical trials, and more.
• Mobilizes thousands of advocates to drive policy changes that accelerate the development of new cancer treatments and break down barriers to care.

From January 30 to March 22, 2025, our team’s goal is to raise $70,000 in 7 weeks, all of which will go directly to LLS in support of its lifesaving mission. This is an ambitious undertaking, but we believe that, with the support of people like you, we can make it happen.
